A website that answers the phone when you cannot
Hours, prices, where you go, what you make. The forty questions you answer out loud every week, sitting on a page that belongs to you.
The work we take
Brochure sites, built to how your business actually runs
A brochure site is a site that tells people who you are and what you do, and gives them a way to get hold of you. It is what almost every trade actually needs, and it is what almost nobody actually sells them.
We build it to what we found when we looked at your business. Not to a template, and not to what the last man got.
Based in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Most of the work is done remotely, so the reach runs well past Lebanon and Lancaster to Manheim, Harrisburg, Allentown and Scranton.
- Pages, services and photographs
- Testimonials in your customers’ own words
- Contact and quote forms that land where you can read them
- A price list, without a checkout on it
- Rebuilds off a page builder or a rented platform
- Migrations that keep or simplify your existing web addresses
The fear that stops most people
“If you move my website, do I lose my email?”
It is the right question and it is the first thing we check, before anybody talks about money.
We find out where your mail lives
Sometimes the email runs on the same domain name as the website and sometimes it runs somewhere else entirely. Those are two different jobs and only one of them carries any risk at all.
We read the records, then prove them
We read your registrar’s and your host’s own lists first, then confirm every line against public DNS. The account knows what exists. Public DNS proves what it says. The other way round misses records nobody would ever find.
We write down the way back
Before a single record changes there is a full backup, a written authorization from you for that exact change, and a rollback with a time on it. Then we do it.
It has been done once already with nothing lost. Two sites, five days, and not one piece of company email went missing. That is not a promise that yours is identical. It is the reason we look before we quote.
We wire it, we do not host it
Taking money, and taking bookings
If you sell something, the site is wired to your own Stripe, Square or Shopify account. We never hold card data and we never host a cart, so the merchant account is in your name like everything else is.
Booking works the same way. Sharon Springs Vista hands its guests straight to Airbnb and Vrbo, because those people do booking for a living and we do not.
You keep the account, the money and the login. If you ever leave us, none of that moves.
Where the line is
Work we will not take
Not because it is beneath us. Because it is outside what we do today, and we would rather tell you now than take your money and find out later. This list moves when a trade genuinely needs something we can build well and hand over to you. That is how the Office came off it.
- A real checkout, or card data on the site
- Public customer logins or membership sites
- Inventory systems
- Multilingual applications
- Accessibility-heavy government work
- Regulated financial business
- Anything holding health records
A brochure site for a regulated business can still be fine. The line is whether the website itself holds, moves or collects the regulated information.
How it is built
Written for people first, and for machines as well
More and more, somebody asking about your trade gets an answer from an assistant rather than a list of links. That answer is built out of whatever is written about you, and the machine has no way of telling what is current and what is eight years old.
So every site is built so the facts can be read cleanly and quoted accurately. Not as an extra, and not as something sold separately. It is just how the pages are made.
What we will not do is promise you a place in anybody’s answers. Nobody controls that, us included, and a man who tells you he does is guessing with your money.
- Your prices, hours, services and area written as facts a machine can read, not only as words on a page
- A questions page that answers in plain finished sentences, so anything quoting you quotes you correctly
- The same facts stated the same way on every page and on your Google listing, so nothing contradicts anything
- Every page saying plainly who you are and where you work
Which is another reason to own the thing. If a machine is going to repeat what your website says about your prices, you want to be the one who can change what it says, on the day you decide to change it.
Before you ask
What fits, and what does not
All three lists at once, so you can find yourself on one of them without having to ask.
What fits
- Brochure sites, with a price list
- Rebuilds off a page builder or a rented platform
- Moves that keep your existing web addresses working
What we hand off
- A checkout, on your own Stripe or Square
- Booking, the way we hand ours to Airbnb
- Your account, your money, your name, in every case
What we do not take
- Card data or a real checkout on the site
- Public customer logins
- Inventory
- Health or financial records
You will know on the first call.
Said before you ask
What you keep when we leave
Most of this trade sells you a relationship that runs forever. We sell you a finished job, and then our part ends. So it is worth saying plainly where that end is, and hearing it from us now rather than finding it later.
No retainer
There is no support contract and nothing charged for being on call. Work after handover is billed at the same hourly rate, and there is no free first call.
If you want us on an ongoing basis you buy hours, and you can buy them ahead if that suits your books. That is paying for work, not paying to keep us on standby, and it is the whole difference.
No lock in
Every account is yours from before the work starts. You can move the whole thing any day you like, to anybody, and you do not need our permission or our help to do it.
That second one is worth reading twice. It means we have to be worth calling back. It is a harder way to run a business and it is the only honest one.
We will tell you which one fits
Call and we will look at what you have got and what you are paying for it. You decide in your own time, and nothing gets signed at a kitchen table.
